How it works

Every step in order: what happens, who does it, and what to have ready. Nothing costs anything until you approve a written quote. For what each package includes, see what your site will include.

  1. Pick a look on the Studio

Choose a layout, your colors, and your fonts, and watch a sample website change as you go. You can type your own shop name and words into it. When you like it, get a preview link to show someone, or continue with the design and it comes with you to the project form.

Not sure yet is fine. You can leave every design choice open and decide later with us.

    You
Try the layouts. It is free and asks for no card.
    We
Nothing yet. The designs are already made.
    Have ready
Nothing. Your shop name helps you picture it.

  2. Tell us about the shop

The project form asks for your business name, phone, address, hours, services and prices, a few sentences about the shop, and which package and care plan you want. Sending it creates your account, and you get an email with a sign-in link.

    You
Fill out the form. Anything you are unsure of can wait.
    We
Read it and confirm the package with you.
    Have ready
Your hours, your price list, and your web address if you already have one. Your logo and photos can go by reply to the welcome email.
  3. Approve the quote, sign, and pay half

You get a written quote: the one-time price, when it is due, the care plan you chose, and a timeline. The agreement says the same things in full, plus who owns what and what you are owed if we are late. The agreement is still a draft being checked by our attorney, so its wording can change before you sign. When you approve it, the deposit invoice is on your account page.

The deposit is half the one-time price: $250 for Starter, $1,250 for Standard, $1,750 for Plus, $2,500 for Deluxe. Work starts when it is paid.

    You
Read the quote and the agreement, sign, and pay the deposit by card.
    We
Write the quote and the agreement, and put the invoice on your account page.
    Have ready
A card, and the name of the person who signs for the business.
  4. We build it

We put your business into the layout you picked: your words, your services and prices, your hours, your photos, and the pages your package includes. Your account page shows the site as in the works.

The timeline in your quote depends on how quickly your photos, prices, and hours reach us. Under the draft agreement, if we are the ones who run late, by more than two weeks, part of your deposit comes back to you.

    You
Send what we ask for, and answer questions about the shop.
    We
Build the pages your package includes.
    Have ready
Your logo, photos of the shop and the work, and a final price list.
  5. Review it on a private link

When the site is ready to look at, a private preview link lands on your account page. Nothing is public yet. Look through it on your phone and your computer and write down everything you want changed.

A round of changes is one list, sent all at once. Starter includes one round, Standard two, Plus three, Deluxe four. If you want another, each change in it is $50.

    You
Look through the whole site and send one list of changes.
    We
Make the changes and send the preview back.
    Have ready
Someone who knows your prices and hours to check them with you.
  6. Approve it and pay the rest

When it is right, you approve the finished site. The other half is due then, or you can spread it over your first five monthly bills at no extra charge. Your site goes live at the same time either way, and you can pay the rest off early whenever you like.

All at once, the rest is $250, $1,250, $1,750 or $2,500 by package. Over five months, it is $50, $250, $350 or $500 a month.

    You
Say it is approved and choose how to pay the rest.
    We
Put the balance, or the five payments, on your account page.
    Have ready
    A card.
  7. It goes live on your web address

We set up your web address and put the site on it. If you do not have one, we register it; it is held in our name while we look after your site and renews once a year at the registrar’s price, as its own line on your bill. If you already have one, tell us on the form and we work out the move with you before launch.

Your monthly care plan starts the day the site goes live.

    You
Tell your customers. Put the address on your receipts and your Google listing.
    We
Connect the address and put the site online.
    Have ready
If you already own a web address, where it is registered and how you sign in there.
  8. Updates each month on your care plan

Every care plan keeps the site online, fixes anything that stops working at no charge, and renews your web address. When your hours, prices, or photos change, ask for an update from your account page or by email and it is done within two business days, or the same business day on Premier care.

Basic care is $50 a month with updates $50 each. Starter care, $100, includes 2 a month; Standard care, $250, includes 5; Plus care, $500, includes 12; Premier care, $1,000, includes 20. Unused updates do not carry into the next month, and you can change plans any month.

    You
Ask for a change when something at the shop changes.
    We
Make it within two business days and keep the site running.
    Have ready
The new hours, prices, or photos, in the request.
